Frequently Asked Questions
What therapies do you offer?
I offer person-centred counselling and hypnotherapy in a quiet and comfortable setting. Both approaches help you move forward if you’ve been affected by infant loss. I can use one approach or integrate both in your therapy, depending on what will benefit you the most.
What happens in a counselling session?
Person-centred counselling involves accepting all aspects of your personality without judging you. During each session I provide a warm, genuine and supportive environment where you can be heard, understood and valued. I don’t impose instructions, but listen carefully and offer insights to promote positive change.
Through person-centred therapy you achieve a deeper understanding of yourself, find new emotional strength and ways to overcome your distress.
What happens during hypnotherapy?
During a hypnotherapy session I guide you with calming techniques in a safe and quiet environment. You’re in a very relaxed state, but you’re fully aware of your surroundings and in control throughout the session.
This relaxed state means your conscious mind is quietened, so you’re in tune with the instinctive power of your subconscious. I help you focus on freeing yourself from damaging thoughts and feelings, while reinforcing positive ones. Not only does this benefit you emotionally, it calms your physical response to stressful situations.
Do you offer telephone counselling and other solutions?
Yes. If you have mobility issues or if my therapy room is too far for you to travel, I offer online counselling via email or Skype.
I also offer creative techniques with pictures, designs and objects, which can help if you find it easier to express yourself visually instead of talking.
Get in touch
If you’d like to benefit from counselling, or if you have any questions, get in touch and I’ll respond as soon as I can. We’ll arrange a time for you to drop in for a friendly, informal introduction session where we get to know each other, and establish how I can best support you.
My rate is £40 per session and each counselling session lasts an hour. I’ll usually recommend 6-8 sessions, with the option for more if needed. I offer concessions for special circumstances – please contact me for details.
I require at least 24 hours notice to change or cancel an appointment. If not I will charge a cancellation fee. If we can’t meet due to adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, I can offer counselling via Skype at a reduced cost.
